Do Hair Extensions Damage Your Hair?
Updated: Jan 10
This is by far the most frequently asked question by all clients, and I’m not surprised by all of the horror stories out there.
Hair extensions will not damage your hair if they have been fitted by a professional who understands the hair structure and carries out a thorough consultation to determine whether the client is suitable for hair extensions. Clients also have to take into consideration the aftercare routine that is necessary to keep your own hair and the hair extensions in good condition.
There are a lot of methods to suit all types of hair, clients with finer hair I would always recommend something lightweight, and it’s always a good idea to have regular check-ups if you’re new to wearing hair extensions to ensure that you are experiencing no problems.
There are many different types of hair extensions available on the market these days, I work with some of the worlds top companies specializing in high-quality hair extensions. Unfortunately, there are brands advertising products that are not entirely up to the standards that they say they are. This can not only be a lot of hard work and money wasted, but hair that is not cuticle correct (remi) can cause a lot of damage to the root of the hair because of all of the tension from constantly brushing out matting.
1. Always do your research to make sure you are having your hair fitted by a reputable professional hair extensionist.
2. Check to make sure the hair you are having fitted by your hair extensionist is a known reputable brand.
3. Remember it is also your responsibility to follow out the correct aftercare and use the correct products to ensure the longevity of your hair extensions.
